Dr. Kimya Nuru Dennis

Dr. Kimya Nuru Dennis is a sociologist and criminologist, professor, theorist, researcher, and community advocate focusing on health, education, and economics. Health emphasizes life stressors, mental health, suicide and self-harm, substance use, epilepsy, physical health, holistic health, and community-patient advocacy. Education pertains to families and communities involved with reading, learning, curriculum development, selecting and evaluating class materials, and selecting and evaluating library materials. Dr. Dennis attained a B.A. in political science, pre-law, from the University of Richmond, an M.S. in criminal justice from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Ph.D. in sociology with concentrations in criminology and inequality from North Carolina State University.
