Imagine doing all the things to become an anesthesiologist to be told by a patient they did not want a Black doctor? Dr. Christen Behzadi, a board-certified anesthesiologist and founder of InternationalIntercultural, didn’t have to imagine this as she lived it. Thanks to a colleague confronting the patient, Dr. B. and this doctor “bonded in allyship”. Check out this week’s episode for more.

Dr. Behzadi is a board-certified anesthesiologist with 7 years of experience practicing at a private
hospital in the Texas Medical Center (Houston, Texas). She is the founder of International
Intercultural; a cultural consulting company focused on diversity, equity and inclusion learning
programs. In 2009, she became inspired to pursue avenues for cultural understanding/unity and
racial reconciliation after being racially discriminated against and experiencing the power of
allyship-advocacy from an unlikely source. She is a published cultural writer & successfully ran
an intercultural consulting business for 6 years before starting IIC FIRM.
